About

A safe, fun, sometimes-not-so-cheap quest for finding the ultimate keyboard.  “Ultimate” is of course highly subjective…

  1. Hi! I am fellow keyboard-obsessed enthusiast who share in your quest and passion! I amassed a collection of nearly 30 mechanical keyboards and my most recent addition is most unique. It is a brand “Micro National PC” and appears to be an IBM Model F clone. I’ve tried hooking it up to my PC using a series of adapters and the best I can tell it must be using the XT protocol, as I can get the Caps Lock and Num Lock LEDs to illuminate, but cannot get an key-presses to be sent/ registered on the PC.

I’m on the cusp of purchasing one of these two converters:

    http://www.hagstromelectronics.com/products/ke_xtusb.html

Do you think either of these would be a better choice than the other?

    Cheers!

    • Hi David,

      Wow – 30 keyboards is a few!

I have not heard of the Hagstrom Electronics device, but I have heard a good deal on the Soarer’s converter from orihalcon. My preference would probably have to be with the Soarer’s converter.

      Good luck!

  2. Re: 30 –Yeah, I may have a bit of a ‘problem’ but it is a hobby I enjoy! 😉

Thank you for the advice. I’ve order the Soarer’s converter from orihalcon. Hopefully it’ll do the trick!

Thanks for quick response and great blog posts!

    Cheers,
